How to become a jerk rather then a nice-guy?

Im 18 now and I've learned something. The cocky arrogant guys who try to be the alpha male have every trophy woman they could dream of. I've always been included as a nice guy. Somewhat of a pushover and quick to fall. I can't seem to get anything but a bad relationship. Im tired of being cheated on and played and stood up. How can I even start to be like these guys? I've been nice all my life and all it got me was my heart ripped out a few times. What cam I do to be more like these guys?
