How to ask a girl out again?

So I asked a girl out to go on a date with me, or well, to hangout with me one day just before she went to go traveling for several weeks. I think she could be back, she said she might go with me to the movies when she comes back. Should I text her and ask her if she's back? Or would that seem a bit..."odd" I want to ask her out again, but I'm not sure if I should, I don't think I should. But I kind of want to...It's all a big contradiction, should I? Or should I not? some help please? :D
