NEED HELP. How Do I Make My Ocarina Of Time Have Zeldarian Powers?

I've just invested $400 into an Ocarina Of Time from The Legend of Zelda. I've learned all the tunes and songs played in the game in which give Link access to all those awesome powers. However, whenever I play them, nothing happens. I've learned every song perfectly, so that's not the problem. So then, I erected my own Temple of Time (Which cost $230,000) and played "The Song Of Time" inside it. Nothing happened. But in the meantime, while having the temple built, I played "Saria's Song" because I wanted to talk to Saria. I could not hear her. Then, I painted Triforce on the floor in front of all the doors in my house and played "Zelda's Lullaby" while standing on them to make them open. Again, nothing happened. It wouldn't even do as much as play that little tune when you figured out one of those puzzles from the game. What is wrong??? This goes for every other song too. Nothing is happening! I would appreciate any help on how to use the powers of this Ocarina correctly, otherwise, I've been ripped off. Thanks!
