Christians, why do you refuse to rationalize when it comes to the bible?

Religion has a strange hold on some people. Of course there are several who say they dare you to find even one (eye roll), at least one guy admits it and then there are the especially screwy ones like Gunther who actually do read it and somehow miss the blatantly obvious ones, like the fact that OT God is NOTHING like the NT god, Jesus.
